Stephen Leeb, Ph.D. From Amazon.com Stephen Leeb shows how hard times can be a boon for smart investors. As the world faces an energy crisis of unprecedented scope, renowned economist Stephen Leeb shows how surging oil prices will contribute to an economic collapse. With meticulous research and analysis, Leeb shows that due to strong competition from India and China, prices could soon double, a cost for which most countries and investors are ill-prepared. Now, in this groundbreaking book, Leeb not only shows how this crisis will affect consumers, but how savvy investing can turn these dire times into financial gain. Peak Oil Resources Review: This book is a follow-up work to his effort The Oil Factor: Protect Yourself and Profit in the Coming Energy Crisis. Much like that previous work, Leeb hits the nail on the head with a thorough analysis of the historical trends that have precipitated our current plight and their implications on our financial future. Other authors go into greater detail on the causes of Peak Oil and resource depletion, but Leeb's treatment lays a sufficient foundation to make his case for what is ultimately advice geared towards the investor. In the opening pages of this book, Leebs draws an immediate and palpable correlate of Peak Oil and the Tech bubble. While others have cited works that examine the fall of complex societies, the immediacy of the bursting tech sector forces the discussion onto a more tangible realm than otherwise... i.e. this is not just theory, this just happened on a small scale. He then makes his case for the geo-financial-political importance of oil and what may in fact happen when prices reach $200 a barrel before examining what the 1970's oil shocks have taught us in the investing realm. He wraps this effort up by forcing a look at ones priorities and laying out an investing blueprint of sorts that should (based on his research and analysis) yield profitable returns in the midst of economic turmoil. All told, this is a wonderful book that treats the financial realm of Peak Oil in a way that no other book I have yet read has. It is done in a way that only Leeb could, given his background in finance and investing. Whether or not you heed his advice, or are even sitting on the fence with regard to you thoughts on Peak Oil, the insight given in this book make it well worth the read. Stephen
