Ready or Not, A Disaster Survival Handbook provides all you need to know to keep you and your family safe in the aftermath of an emergency situation

Peak Oil Resources Review:

This book is a fantastic primer for disaster readiness that is an easy and enjoyable read.  I managed to read the entire book on a cross country flight, and I honestly could not put it down.  After the intro, the book covers the absolute priorities for survival; shelter, water, fire, and food.  Without these, the need for the ensuing topics (sanitation, first aid) are very nearly obsolete.  The book wraps up with a comprehensive set of related lists and resources.  The lists especially detail one's needs for everything you need to keep in a fanny "go" pack to your car's survival kit.  If you haven't thought of it, the authors have, and it is on their list.

Ready or Not It was not too tedious of a book to be a turnoff, but covered each topic in enough detail to give you the basics and to force you to really think about priorities... i.e. what are your wants and what are your needs.  This distinction is critical, and they well make that case.  While Ready or Not is not an exhaustive work, it makes no pretense that it is. It is the type of text that is a jumping off point, one that you give to someone so that they are not clue-free when disaster does indeed strike.  Once you develop the right mindset, you can and will survive.  But, you need this book to get started!
