I first discovered The Paleo Solution on the blog of Tim Ferriss with the titillating post titled "How to Keep Feces Out of Your Bloodstream (or Lose 10 Pounds in 14 Days)".  Huh?...

That was then... this is now.  Questions no longer remain and my eyes have been opened to how powerful this nutritional method and lifestyle is.  The core of this philosophy is that the consumption of grains is irritating the lining of our digestive system and leading to a myriad of diseases and ailments.  Having read the book cover-to-cover, I decided that I would take his 30 day challenge of adopting this way of life and seeing how I felt.  He almost playfully and light-heartedly taunts that you will either feel  the best that you have ever felt in your entire life -or- you will have gone for 30 days without some foods you enjoy.  Best case life-altering positive changes -or- status quo... What to do, what to do? Take the challenge of course!

... And take the challenge I did!  One of the first things that struck me was how complete of a nutritional approach this is.  For example carbs are not inherently bad... just choose smart, grain-free carbs.  Like meat?  Good.  There is plenty of it and the right kinds to boot.  Vegi's are king and are the best source of vitamins and minerals (and of course fiber).  From start to finish it simply makes sense.

Overall, I felt my energy levels over the 30 days rocket to a level that I had not experience in years (childhood perhaps?).  Hunger was all but nonexistent.  Pounds began to fall off with little changes in my exercise routines.  What did change was my attitude about food and what I should and should not be eating.  

Did I cheat and have grains over the 30 days?  No... but I found that gluten-containing foods are literally everywhere and wheat is in almost everything.  All it takes is a little bit for me to feel that I had wheat, even if it was unintentional.  When it happened I would feel so terrible that it was the perfect reminder of why eating the Paleo way makes sense.  

I could gush endlessly about this book.  Robb Wolf makes his work both entertainingly readable and accessible.  My advice?  Buy this book and take his 30-day challenge.  It will undoubtedly by an eye opener that will change your life.
